Job Description
Location: Burns Harbor, IN
Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for a Quality Analyst within our Central Quality (CQ) group in Burns Harbor, IN. The Quality Analyst or specifically an Order Specification Analyst (OSA) is responsible for performing a technical review of customer purchase orders and automotive contracts to determine mill capability and material route identification for order entry. The OSA uses customer, agency, and internal specifications along with qualifications/mill capability applications to enter the SAP sales order to provide Planning with all capable/qualified production routes. The OSA initiates inquiries to Plant Quality confirming grade and dimensional capability. An ideal candidate be able to will need to meet internal metrics and ensure customer satisfaction both independently as well as within a team.
Summary of Responsibilities:

Review of customer purchase orders (PO’s) and material contracts for discrepancies of technical requirements

Troubleshoot discrepancies between SAP sales orders and plant legacy (production) orders

Review and comprehend customer, agency, and internal specifications to ensure compliance and assignment of capable / qualified facilities to one-time orders and forecasted materials

Regular follow-up of “Held” sales orders / parts requiring clarification from either the customer or Plant Quality group

Work with Inside Sales or Account Manager to obtain the necessary confirmation or PO revision to release the order

Enter inquiries to Plant Quality for technical questions or size limitation approval

Review repeated PO’s that have bypassed the OSA technical review to ensure correct values have been assigned on the sales order

Review and resolve Sales Orders errors

Review the customer PO specification and grade requirements to confirm the correct Book/Spec/Grade has been applied to the sales order

Work on department projects within the quality organization

Minimum Requirements:
-
Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent experience

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Knowledge of Hot Roll, Cold Rolled, and Coated steel products

Experience working in the steel industry or heavy manufacturing

Preferred Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
-
Proficient in using a legacy business system

Quality Assurance and/or Customer Specification knowledge

Customer Service or Planning background
-
Flat Carbon steel product or process experience
-
Familiarity with Microsoft Access or SQL
-
Knowledge of Cleveland-Cliffs Flat Rolled Carbon Steel Customer Base
