College Programs: Internships and New Grads

Find Your Future in Steel

We offer a variety of opportunities for students and new graduates who have an interest in the steel industry and a passion for innovation and sustainability. Internship and co-op opportunities are available to students to gain experience in the steel industry as they plan their future careers. New graduates are placed in our associate program which includes general career readiness training sessions in the first year and enhanced compensation potential in the first three years.

Engineering Careers

As recent graduates, engineering students joining Cleveland-Cliffs are given significant responsibilities right from the start. Whether it is long-or short-range planning, operations, processing or reclamation, new hires can gain valuable exposure to different aspects of the steelmaking process and various parts of the operation.

Non-Engineering Careers

For recent graduates with non-engineering degrees, Cleveland-Cliffs offers various full-time opportunities in fields such as accounting, finance, IT, health & safety, labor relations and human resources. Internships/Co-ops

Cleveland-Cliffs offers one of the most sought after internship programs in the industry and partners with many universities to provide co-op opportunities. Skilled Trade Careers and Apprenticeship Training

Manufacturers across the United States, including steel companies, are facing a critical workforce challenge: thousands of skilled workers are needed over the next decade to fill vacancies due to retirements.

Cleveland-Cliffs partners with community colleges and technical schools in the communities where we operate to offer on-the-job training and paid apprenticeship programs to prepare individuals for high-tech, well-paying jobs in the steelmaking industry.

We offer career paths starting in hourly production and skilled trade positions. From general production operators to electricians and maintenance technicians, we offer opportunities for men and women from every background and education level.
