Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for a Benefits Administrator. The Benefits Administrator will provide day-to-day support for the Company’s active health & welfare and OPEB programs. This role delivers responsive employee service, accurate plan administration, and reliable operational support across benefits processes and systems.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Plan Administration

  • Process enrollments, qualifying life events, and ongoing plan maintenance accurately and on time

  • Intake and validate documentation (e.g., dependent verification, beneficiary designations, and life insurance forms)

  • Complete enrollment confirmations, verification and requests.

  • Employee Support & Communication

  • Serve as a first-line resource for employees and retirees; interpret plan provisions and communicate options clearly

  • Educate employees on benefits during annual enrollment and throughout the year; contribute to materials and FAQs

  • Data & Systems

  • Perform routine checks in HRIS and vendor platforms to ensure data accuracy; escalate discrepancies with clear documentation

  • Support data file reviews between Workday/Dayforce and vendors; help troubleshoot basic integration issues

  • Assist with scheduled/ad hoc reporting and simple analyses

  • Compliance & Reporting

  • Follow policies aligned to ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other regulations.

  • Support annual enrollment, compliance calendars, and vendor deliverables.

  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Build strong working relationships with HR, Payroll, and vendor partners.

  • Contribute ideas to streamline processes and improve employee experience

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Customer focus, attention to detail, strong communication, confidentiality, and ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365; comfort with HRIS and vendor systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business Administration (or equivalent experience)

  • 2+ years in employee benefits administration

  • Experience in Workday/Dayforce

The salary range for this role is $65,000 – $80,000.  An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
