Senior Shift Manager Raw Materials

Location: Cleveland, OH

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel LLC has an immediate opening for a Senior Shift Manager Raw Materials at our Cleveland, OH operation. This position plays a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective flow of raw materials that support Steelmaking operations.

The Senior Shift Manager Raw Materials works closely with operations, transportation providers, commercial teams, maintenance personnel, and vendors to coordinate material deliveries, monitor inventory levels, support process improvement initiatives, and identify opportunities to enhance operational performance.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the receipt, storage, and movement of raw materials to support uninterrupted Steelmaking operations.
• Monitor inventory levels and material consumption trends to ensure operational requirements are met while optimizing inventory costs.
• Manage BOF flux deliveries to meet production requirements.
• Prepare alloy purchases based on production needs and enter in Tabware in a timely manner.
• Prepare and present monthly scrap buy requirements to the Procurement Team based on production needs and enter purchases in Tabware in a timely manner.
• Partner with transportation providers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to coordinate material deliveries and resolve supply or logistics issues.
• Coordinate and direct Material Handling unit employees, including safety performance, required training, job qualification activities, and weekly scheduling.
• Analyze operational and quality data to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, reduced costs, and enhanced process performance.
• Investigate and develop countermeasures for non-conforming raw materials that negatively affect environmental performance or steel quality.
• Support capital, maintenance, and continuous improvement projects related to raw material handling systems and facility infrastructure.
• Coordinate and support raw material activities across both 1SP and 2SP operations.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and inventory reconciliation activities.
• Promote a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement throughout the department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Two (2) or more years of experience in a manufacturing, steelmaking, mining, logistics, transportation, military, or other heavy industrial environment, including experience coordinating work activities, leading projects, or supporting frontline operations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of an organization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment, including exposure to varying weather conditions, climbing stairs and ladders, and walking extended distances.
• Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Leadership or supervisory experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
• Experience with raw material handling systems, inventory management, logistics coordination, steelmaking operations, or procurement activities.
• Experience working with production planning, inventory control, alloy management, scrap purchasing, or material forecasting.
• Experience leading or supporting continuous improvement initiatives, cost reduction projects, or capital projects.
• Experience utilizing ERP, maintenance management, inventory management, or production planning systems (i.e., Tabware).

The salary range for this role is $85,000 to $110,000.  An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
