Job Description
Koil Metals is a Detroit-based steel service center that processes and distributed various flat rolled metal products. Koil has an immediate opportunity for a Slitter Operator on First Shift. The Slitter Operator is responsible for producing quality products in a safe, productive, and profitable manner, and will function as the machine operating leader, guiding the slitting crew throughout the process.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Verify production run information for accuracy, provide slitting team with set up and process instructions, and ensure coils are supplied for the production run performing required verification checks.
- Build slitter head to ensure best possible options within the machine's capabilities.
- Process coils ensuring quality tolerances are adhered to.
- Complete all associated documentation and reports (Slitting Production Report, Slitting Report)
- Monitor and inspect equipment for safe operation and advise management of any maintenance concerns.
- Must have good housekeeping and the ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Responsible for the safety of team members, never operating the machine when someone is in an unsafe position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent job experience.
- Advanced knowledge and skill level of slitting machine.
- Must be able to read Standard/Metric measuring tape.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematic calculations of standard/metric measurements.
- Basic computer skills.
- Hi-lo and overhead crane experience preferred but not required if trainable.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to read, understand, and comply with work directions, training manuals, and safety rules.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
