Job Description
Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Section Manager Operations in our Finishing department at our Steelton Works operation. This role provides supervisory control over the Shift Managers, Process Managers and their crews. They ensure that quality products are manufactured safely and on-time while maintaining effective employee relations and equipment that is operated and maintained efficiently.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Manages Shift Managers, Process Managers and their subordinate crews. Oversees Plant Operations, Manufactory Processes and Equipment Maintenance
- Directs and coordinates the development of short and long-range operation/maintenance plans, budgets, and performance targets
- Prioritizes tasks within the constraints of the safety standards, environmental regulations, production needs, budget, and labor agreements
- Acts as a consultant, provides technical and mechanical support, periodically works in the operational areas
- Collaborates with other departments regards to internal/external customer requests for corrective actions or continuous improvement of projects, process efficiency, product quality and cost effectiveness
- Promotes and encourages teamwork and high-performance standards throughout the section and oversees the disciplinary action. Designs and leads training programs. Conducts performance reviews.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2-5 years of supervisory experience in heavy manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science, Chemistry or related field strongly preferred
- 5-10 years of supervisory experience in heavy manufacturing environment
- Strong technical skills including mechanical, electrical and maintenance
- Knowledge of melting and casting steel or other metals preferred
