Job Description
Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking an Accountant. The accountant is responsible for preparing, maintaining, analyzing, and resolving discrepancies in schedules supporting key general ledger accounts, as well as preparing schedules for internal and external financial reporting. The accountant is expected to take ownership of assigned tasks and further expected to establish and maintain good working relationships with personnel within accounting, steel making sites and other corporate departments, and externally as required to perform assigned tasks. The accountant must develop the required proficiency in key software, including SAP, and maintain a working knowledge of US accounting standards. The accountant must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Summary of Responsibilities

Perform month-end close procedures in a timely and accurate manner, including recording month-end journal entries, preparing account reconciliations, and performing other month-end close responsibilities

Maintain the Company’s fixed asset records in the Company’s fixed asset software and account for monthly activity

Input, maintain and record leases in the Company’s leasing software

Manage monthly intercompany process across multiple locations

Maintain the Company’s environmental schedules based on quarterly updates and account for monthly activity

Prepare and record monthly entries related to Coke operation’s activity

Prepare and record monthly entries related to Canadian operation’s activity
Minimum Qualifications
-
1-4 years of private industry and/or public accounting experience with knowledge of accounting, finance and internal control areas.

Strong understanding of Microsoft office suite.

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Preferred Qualifications

CPA or equivalent certification
