Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking an Accountant. Responsible for preparing, maintaining, analyzing, and resolving discrepancies in schedules supporting key general ledger accounts as well as preparing schedules for internal and external financial reporting. Expected to take ownership of assigned tasks and further expected to establish and maintain good working relationships with personnel within accounting, steel making sites and other corporate departments, and externally as required to perform assigned tasks. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Perform month end close procedures in a timely and accurate manner including recording month-end journal entries, preparing account reconciliations, and performing other month-end close responsibilities.

  • Prepare monthly support for monthly and quarterly internal reporting.

  • Prepare annual benefit plan financial statements and annual audit support.

  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of reported data.

  • Prepare quarterly and year-end financial reporting schedules in support of Company’s quarterly and annual reports.

  • Prepares quarterly and year-end audit schedules in support of Company’s quarterly and annual audits.

  • Provides support to FP&A team for quarterly forecasts.

  • Prepares accounting support schedules and other ad-hoc reports and analysis as requested.

  • Interact with department heads, site personnel, public accountants, and other providers of goods and services as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 1-4 years of public accounting and/or private industry experience with knowledge of accounting, finance, and internal control areas. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting

  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
