Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Process Control Engineer in the Maintenance department at our Harrisburg, PA area operation.  As a process control engineer, you will work with the latest technology to help us develop new and improved steels that are used in making our world faster, stronger, and more sustainable.  Summary of Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain control systems in production facilities, combustion equipment, plant-wide utilities, and environmental areas.
  • Work with operating departments, maintenance engineers, and environmental engineers to develop and implement process improvements.
  • Engineer and implement control system improvements.
  • Work with outside contractors and companies to specify, develop, upgrade, implement, and maintain new process control equipment.
  • Work safely and ensure plant safety policies are followed.
  • Assist maintenance technicians in troubleshooting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field of study.
  • 3-5 years’ Industrial/manufacturing mechanical & electrical maintenance experience.
  • Experience with PLC5 and ControlLogix PLCs.
  • Experience with the following software: RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex 24Vdc, 120Vac, and 250Vdc industrial controls including AC, DC, and Servo motor drives up to 480Vac and 250Vdc.
  • Familiarity with plant floor data acquisition systems and distributed control.
  • Good troubleshooting and team-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to lift more than 25 pounds on occasion.
  • Climbing, kneeling, bending, stooping, walking, use of hands, etc. is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a union environment.
  • Experience in all aspects of programming and maintaining Allen-Bradley PLC5 and ControlLogix PLCs, including Structured Text and Motion Control.
  • Experience with ABB, Allen-Bradley, Control Techniques, and Siemens motor drives.
  • Understanding of motor control centers, switchgear, and 480Vac substations.
  • Basic understanding of power distribution concepts up to 7200Vac.
