Northshore Mining Company – Cleveland-Cliffs has immediate openings for Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Technicians. The primary function of this position is to repair and maintain all electrical and/or instrumentation equipment associated with the mining and production of taconite pellets in a self-directed work environment. This position may be located in either Silver Bay or Babbitt.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain all electrical and/or instrumentation equipment located in the Silver Bay Processing Plant or the Babbitt Mine Site.

  • Work in a self-directed environment to complete daily, weekly, monthly tasks

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-year post-secondary degree, with preference for degrees in electrical or instrumentation; OR equivalent apprenticeship program; OR applicable military experience; OR at least 2 years of related full-time work experience is required.

  • Must be able to recognize upset conditions, determine cause, and then take corrective action.

  • Must be highly motivated, have an exceptional work ethic, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work in a self-directed team environment.

  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts, overtime, vacation relief and holidays.

  • Applicants must achieve a passing score on the NSM Electrical/Instrumentation assessment.

  • Must meet the physical requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference for candidates with working knowledge in electrical maintenance in an industrial or mining environment.
  • Previous experience with high voltage.
  • Candidates with PLC backgrounds.
  • Minnesota electrical license is preferred.
  • Demonstrated safe working practices and excellent safety record.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Good troubleshooting skills and proven mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems software is preferred.  Will be required to generate work orders and requisition parts.

Successful candidates will need to pass a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen; background check, and other pre-employment testing.
