Mine Engineer

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Mine Engineer. The primary function of this position is to provide engineering support to the mine operating department.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Willing to learn and accept responsibility in areas such as; drilling, blasting, dispatch system administration, and short and long-range mine planning.
• Willing to fill in where needed; including GPS surveying, drone pilot, and special projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering is required.
• Must have experience in Vulcan Mine Software, or similar programs.
• Training or experience in surveying/GPS is required.
• Good understanding of general business concepts.
• Computer Skills – Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Willingness to learn new technologies.
• People Skills – Must have demonstrated successful interpersonal skills
• Must be a champion of safe production methods & ideals.  Promotes continuous improvement.  Must understand safety, mine and MSHA rules, environmental policies and procedures and operate in an environmentally responsible manner.
• Organizational Skills – Must have the ability to plan and coordinate multiple work tasks with a variety of employees, departments and outside contractors.  Must be able to set goals and develop strategies and schedules to accomplish goals.
• Decision Making Skills – Utilize a collaborative approach to problem solving and function within a self-direct team environment.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous related engineering experience is preferred.
• Experience in ArcView GIS Software is preferred.
