Mine Engineering Manager

Location: Eveleth, MN

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Mine Engineering Manager based in Eveleth, MN. In this role, you will lead mine planning and engineering initiatives across Cleveland-Cliffs' Minnesota mining operations, supporting Hibbing Taconite, United Taconite, Minorca Mine, and Northshore Mining. This position provides strategic leadership for mine planning, operational performance, capital planning, and continuous improvement while helping drive safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations. Weekly travel to Minnesota mine sites is required.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and execution of short- and long-range mine plans, operating budgets, and performance targets.
• Provide leadership and direction to engineering and operational teams to achieve safety, production, quality, and cost objectives.
• Drive projects and initiatives that improve operational efficiency, productivity, and equipment performance.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, site procedures, regulatory requirements, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Evaluate equipment requirements and participate in the selection and acquisition of new mining equipment and technologies.
• Monitor key performance indicators and implement improvements that enhance productivity, product quality, and cost effectiveness.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Support employee development, performance management, and disciplinary processes as needed.
• Coordinate and participate in safety, risk management, and loss control initiatives.
• Negotiate and administer royalty agreements with landowners and fee holders.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8-10 years of leadership experience in mine planning, mine engineering, mining operations, or related technical disciplines.
• Ability to obtain and maintain ATF certification.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive results, and build collaborative working relationships.
• Ability to effectively prioritize work, delegate responsibilities, and manage multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Iron ore mining experience.
• Experience leading teams in a unionized environment.
• Experience supporting multiple mining operations or locations.

The salary range for this role is $100,000 – $140,000.  An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location and business or organizational needs.
