Job Description

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opening for a Procurement Analyst to support the Plant Services, Base Metals, Ferroalloys, and Lime Purchasing categories. This position will be based in our East Chicago, IN Office.  
 
Summary of Responsibilities:   

  • Perform detailed analysis to evaluate alternative sourcing strategies, including return on investment, supply-demand analysis, price-value analysis, inventory optimization, volume consolidation, supplier portfolio optimization, to evaluate alternative sourcing strategies  

  • Assist the Category Buyers and Category Manager in performing strategic sourcing and procurement for assigned commodities across all US facilities  

  • Support bidding, negotiating and implementing national sourcing deals for assigned commodities  

  • Serve as the primary resource for understanding national, regional, and local procurement requirements  

  • Work closely with Maintenance and Operations organizations to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of the purchase and use of assigned commodities 

  • Develop annual savings targets and reporting results versus plan; manage compliance to national sourcing strategies  

  • Various other duties as needed to support the business  

 
Minimum Qualifications:  

  • BS or BA in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or another business-related field   

  • At least 2 years of relevant analytical experience  

  • Above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office software  

  • Ability to define problems, collect & analyze data, establish facts, and draw conclusions  

  • Must possess high ethical standards and the ability to work within our Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Policies  

  • Ability to build rapport with others in the work environment  

  • Ability to understand the Legal aspects of Procurement  

  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment  

 
Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment – an understanding of the steelmaking processes and practices is a plus 

  • Experience with Oracle, Ellipse, or Tabware
