Job Description
Cleveland-Cliffs is currently seeking a Quality Engineer at Mansfield, OH. Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer is accountable for providing expertise in the planning and execution of technical process projects, performing metallographic testing, and dispositioning material to ensure the product meets customer requirements.
Summary of Responsibilities:

Provides technical expertise to resolve departmental process issues, ensuring product quality and cost efficiency

Conducts research to identify alternative solutions that meet quality and cost requirements, ensuring customer satisfaction through adherence to product specifications

Investigates field projects to develop cost-effective solutions for technical process problems. Develops, analyzes, prepares, and executes technical process projects

Assists in establishing departmental quality objectives, directing CAR, PMCAR, Continuous Improvement, preventive actions, and PCE/PCR systems

Ensures quality assurance through inspection and disposition of products before shipment

Performs metallographic testing and analysis of steel products

Fosters effective communication with Operations and Maintenance regarding process applications related to safety, quality, and cost

Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy / Materials Science Engineering or other related engineering degrees

Proficient computer skills
-
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
-
Capability to work in a hot, dusty industrial environment
Preferred Qualifications:
-
3 or more years’ experience in steel processing, steelmaking, or an industrial environment
