Internship opportunities exist across our footprint, and you may be assigned to a location based on availability. These locations include operating sites in Burns Harbor in Indiana, Butler and Coatesville in Pennsylvania, Dearborn in Michigan, and Mansfield and Middletown in Ohio.
As a Process Control Engineering Intern, projects in which an intern will participate will vary, depending on education level and plant, but will model the duties below to the extent possible.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Software development in a variety of programming languages and on a variety of hardware platforms
- Maintenance of computer hardware and software
- Maintenance and problem solving of all aspects of the automation system
- Modifications to the automation system to adapt to new products and processes
- Address issues that may impact production or system reliability
- Process modeling for mill processes of a chemical, metallurgical and mechanical nature
- Administration of a variety of Operating Systems and relational databases on workstations and servers
- Work with networking technologies, high-speed data transmission, and specialty interfaces
- Respond to routine and emergency requests
- Manage local area project, task, and priority lists
- Make recommendations for system and process improvements
- Work with vendors on products and performance issues
- Other projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in the field of Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical degree
- Completion of sophomore year of study by the summer of 2025
